Summary: The U.S. Mission in Hanoi is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Mail Room Clerk in its Information Resource Management (IRM).
The work schedule for these positions is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidates must be able to begin working within 90 days of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Incumbent of this position will serve as a clerk in the Embassy mail and pouch room. The incumbent will be a primary customer service to all mail requests via email and front counter assistance. He/she will receive, disseminate, and dispatch diplomatic pouch, diplomatic post office (DPO) parcels, local, and international mail. The incumbent will also prepare dip notes, employee passports, and various documents for shipment between the Embassy and other diplomatic missions and Vietnamese government offices. He/she will act as customer liaison for all postal matters within U.S. Mission Vietnam and assume duties and responsibilities of Senior Mailroom Clerk in his/her absence.

Education: Completion of secondary school (grade 12) is required.
** Requirements:
- EXPERIENCE: At least two years’ experience in customer service is required.
- JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have:
• Basic computer applications experience and email usage.
• Thorough knowledge of Pouch and Mail procedures and regulations.
• Knowledge of host government customs procedures.
** Evaluations:
- LANGUAGE: Level 3(good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.
(This will be tested.)
Level 3(good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to responsibility handle and document usage of cash fund of approximately US$650 or blanket purchase agreements (BPA) commitments with local vendors of US$3,500.
- Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

* IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
